September 2The 2021-22 Fine Arts Series at SUNY Brockport kicks off on Friday, September 10, 2021, at 7:30 pm with a concert by Mr. Mustard, “Rochester’s premier Beatles cover band,” according to 55 Plus magazine.

May 10With all due respect to Tom Wolfe, sometimes you can go home again. This fall, Stephanie Paredes ’04 will return to the SUNY Brockport campus to direct the Mainstage production of the Pulitzer Prize-winning Water by the Spoonful by Tony Award®-winner Quiara Alegría Hudes (In the Heights) for the Department of Theatre and Music Studies. Paredes, co-founder of the Rochester Latino Theatre Company (RLTC), recently directed “Coffee Card” as part of the virtual Festival of Ten: Revisited. The Hudes play, an occasionally comic drama about family, forgiveness, and fortitude, takes place in Philadelphia’s Latinx community. Performances are currently scheduled for October 2021.

April 29The Sankofa African Dance and Drum Ensemble will be virtual production this year. Coupled with the usual vibrancy and high-energy of the dancers and drummers, this year’s concert features a guest performance live from Guinea, West Africa.

April 5Several alumni have gotten together to take part in “Festival of Ten: Revisited.” This weekly series will feature favorite plays that have appeared in prior editions of the Festival and will stream on Facebook through April 16.

April 1The Department of Art will celebrate the accomplishments of two of their graduating BFA students in the Spring 2021 BFA Thesis Exhibition which will run from April 5 – 18, 2021.

March 10The Sankofa African Dance and Drum Ensemble was featured at Highland Hospital’s Highland Fest at 7 pm on News 8 WROC and streamed live on RochesterFirst.com on March 11.
