Bio

Professor Iafrati is a graduate of SUNY Brockport, State University of New York (BSN, 1977) and the University of Rochester (MS in Nursing, 1984). She received a Post-Masters Certificate as a Family Nurse Practitioner from St. John Fisher College in 1997.

Professor Iafrati was a student of the Nursing program at Brockport in the 1970’s. She returned to Brockport in 1984 as a nursing instructor and presently works part-time in the Department of Nursing teaching critical care nursing in the classroom and clinical setting with senior nursing students. She also works part-time as a nurse practitioner in the Student Health Center.

In her spare time, Professor Iafrati is active in legislative and political issues both locally and state-wide. She is president of Genesee Valley Nurses Association, which is the local nursing organization, from 2017-2019. She received the New York State Nurses Association Legislative Award in 1996 and frequently speaks at Brockport’s Scholars Day on Legislative Issues Impacting Nursing. In 2014, she and a colleague wrote an article, Incorporating Best Practices into Undergraduate Critical Care Nursing Education, that was published in Critical Care Nurse in February 2014. She submits a poster annually to the local chapter of the American Association of Critical-Care Nurse Best Practices Sharing Session.
