Bio

Darlene Schmitt is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor the Associate Director of the Counseling Center.  Darlene has been at the University since 2003, and prior to that worked in a variety of mental health settings including outpatient substance abuse programs; criminal justice diversion programs; community mental health and primary care settings; and had a private practice.  In addition, Darlene is an adjunct instructor for the SUNY Brockport Counselor Education program and enjoys helping develop emerging professionals. 

Campus Involvement: Darlene is actively involved on campus, providing outreach and consultation as well as serving on several college-wide committees including the Employee Assistance Program, the Student Behavioral Consultant Team, and she is the Hazen representative in the College Senate.

The Counseling Center values the well-being of all students and strives to provide equity in mental health for underrepresented populations. This past year, Darlene led the campus collaboration with The Steve Fund (https://www.stevefund.org/)
