Bio

Francis X. Kuhn works primarily as an instructor and stage director in theatre and opera. He recently worked with Brockport Dance alumni in the interdisciplinary piece, Two of Mee, at the Rochester Fringe Festival. His production of Leah, the Forsaken for Metropolitan Playhouse in New York City was praised by the New York Times as a “rare revival” and “a thought-provoking discovery, presented by a first-rate troupe.” The Denver Post named him “Best Director” in their statewide Ovation Awards for his production of Sweeney Todd at Creede Repertory Theatre. His production of Godspell for Muhlenberg Summer Music Theatre in Pennsylvania was named best professional musical of the year by the Lehigh Valley Press. His opera work includes productions for Northern Lights Music Festival, Sacramento Opera, Virginia Opera, OperaDelaware, Opera Festival of New Jersey, and Curtis Institute of Music.
