Bio
Dr. Margaret (Peggy) Lane recently joined the Brockport Community full time and began teaching in the MSW program in fall 2018. Dr. Lane has been an adjunct instructor at both the BSW and MSW at Brockport and many other Social Work programs in the region over 10 years prior to joining the Brockport MSW Faculty. Dr. Lane most recently taught in the Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences at Case Western Reserve in Cleveland, Ohio for the intensive weekend Master of Social Work program. Dr. Lane brings a depth of social work knowledge as she joins us from Federal Service where she served as a medical and behavioral health social worker, suicide prevention coordinator, homeless veteran advocate, and family life specialist within the Veterans Health Administration (VA) and the US Coast Guard (USCG). Dr. Lane is an alumni of the GRC MSW Program and completed her PhD in Child and Family Psychology from Syracuse University in 2015. Dr. Lane’s practice at the VA influenced her research interests which include suicide and Veterans, recovery models in clinical practice, substance abuse/misuse, and homelessness. Dr. Lane has worked extensively with Federal Laws regarding ending Veteran Homelessness and creating VA policy based on Federal and State laws while at the Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center. Dr. Lane is very excited to join Brockport faculty and is looking forward to collaborating with both faculty and students.
