Bio

Debra Fromm Faria joined the Brockport faculty in 2001. She has administered training grants focusing on child welfare, gerontological social work, health and mental health services. As co-director for the Center for Excellence in Gerontological Social Work, Professor Faria coordinates the MSW Graduate Certificate program in Gerontological Social Work, and develops/implements continuing geriatric education programming for students and health care professionals. Research areas include field education, scholarship of teaching, collaborative interprofessional geriatric assessment models, and international social work education. She has served on a number of professional and advisory boards including: the National Advisory Board of the Council on Social Work Education’s (CSWE) Gero-Ed Center, CSWE Field Council, State Society on Aging, NYS National Association of Social Workers. She currently serves as on the CSWE Commission on Accreditation and the board of Linkages of Rochester. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, her clinical and administrative practice is in the areas of gerontological and medical social work.
