Prior to joining the faculty at SUNY Brockport in 2014, Dr. Cesnales taught at Colorado State University, Florida State University, and served as a field supervisor through the University of Pittsburgh.

As a medical social worker at the HIV/AIDS program at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, Dr. Cesnales incorporated individualized solution-focused and empirically supported interventions for HIV positive individuals. Her practice focused on advocating for the most oppressed individuals, fighting bureaucratic systems designed to see people fail, and removing barriers so that human beings could have access to resources to meet their most basic needs. This clinical experience has influenced her research interests in HIV/AIDS service delivery, stigma, evidence based interventions, and social work education.

Dr. Cesnales serves as President of the Board of Directors at the Brockport Child Development Center.
