Bio
Sarah Demmin is a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) who has joined the department in fall 2014. She is originally from Canada, and worked for 8 years at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in veteran’s long term care, geriatric rehab and palliative care. In 2006, she moved from Toronto to Rochester and began working in long term care at St John’s Home. She has a Bachelor of Recreation and Leisure Studies (BRLS) from Brock University in St. Catharines (Ontario), a post graduate diploma in Therapeutic Recreation from Georgian College, and a Master’s of Education Degree in Teaching and Learning Studies (MEd) also from Brock University. Her master’s thesis is a qualitative study titled: Wellness & Balance: Perceptions amongst female health care professionals negotiating career, family and continuing education (2006).
Sarah first joined Brockport as an adjunct instructor in 2007, and is thrilled to be returning in this new role! Although always a Canadian at heart, Sarah loves living in Rochester with her husband and 3 young boys. Most of her leisure time is spent chasing after her little guys, but when she gets the chance she also enjoys gardening, baking, visiting with friends and family, reading, staying active and enjoying a good glass of red wine.
