Bio

Tammy McClung grew up in Buffalo New York, relocating to Rochester in 1996. She joined the Brockport faculty after over 30 years at the bedside, fulfilling her life-long dream of teaching. Tammy began her nursing career in 1989 as an LPN in Buffalo on the Burn/Trauma step-down unit at the Erie County Medical Center (ECMC). After obtaining her RN license in 1995, she began a career at the University of Rochester at Strong hospital in the Burn/Trauma ICU where she spent an incredible 15 years as part of that team. In 2011 she transitioned to Radiology Nursing, where she remained until early 2023, changing her clinical area of practice to URMC Urgent care where she currently maintains a per diem position. She is a graduate of Trocaire College (AAS), The University of Rochester (BSN), and Roberts Wesleyan College (MS), where she received her master’s degree in nursing education. She is a Certified Nurse Educator (CNE), and a Certified Radiology Nurse (CRN), and has been the proud recipient of both the Presidential Teaching Excellence Award and the Daisy Award for Extraordinary Nursing Faculty here at SUNY Brockport.
