Bio

Janie Dennis earned a Master’s Degree in Nursing Education from Roberts Wesleyan College in 2012 and soon after became the first full time nursing lab coordinator at SUNY Brockport. She developed and implemented the nursing simulation curriculum in the fall of 2012. This curriculum is grounded in current evidence and follows national standards and guidelines for simulation education.

She also helped design Brockport’s state of the art simulation center, located in the newly renovated Lathrop Hall, where students learn nursing skills on the most up-to-date equipment using evidence based nursing practices. Mrs. Dennis has developed numerous simulations and lab experiences to enhance the didactic and clinical nursing curriculum. She has presented her work in simulation at several national conferences, is a member of the International Nurses Association for Clinical Simulation Learning and is the current president of the Simulation Educators of Western New York organization.

Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two sons going to the theater, traveling, and watching college football.
