Bio
Emily Blackburn grew up in Hilton, NY just 15 minutes from SUNY Brockport. She graduated from SUNY Brockport’s traditional Bachelor of Science in Nursing program in 2011. Her first nursing job was at The University of Rochester Medical Center (URMC) on the Adult Hematology-Oncology Unit at Wilmot Cancer Institute (WCI) where she remained for 6 years. In 2016, Emily completed coursework for her Master of Science in Nursing Education degree at Roberts Wesleyan College and became an adjunct clinical instructor at SUNY Brockport shortly after. She transitioned to the outpatient setting in 2017 when she became a Clinic Nurse Coordinator at specializing in lymphoma. While at WCI Emily was an Oncology Certified Nurse.
Emily became a full time instructor in the Nursing Lab at SUNY Brockport in the fall of 2018. She has always loved her interactions with students, being involved in educating the next generation of professional nurses, and “seeing the lightbulb come on” when a student gains new understanding. As Emily is very much a hands-on learner, the Simulation Lab is the perfect place for her to expand her own knowledge as well as pass on her expertise to those under her instruction.
Emily currently resides in Spencerport, NY. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, exploring the great outdoors with her husband and son, and snuggles on the couch with her dog.
