Bio

Dr. Zhaopu Ken Xu joined the Department of Counselor Education in 2022. Broadly speaking, his scholarly interests are the effects of language on psychotherapy processes and human motivation. His specialty areas are counseling assessment, research methods, and human development. Some of his ongoing research projects focus on the application of natural language processing tools in counseling research. As an international scholar, Dr. Xu also actively brings his cross-cultural experience to teaching and research. Dr. Xu recently received a grant from the Association for Assessment and Research in Counseling (AARC) to conduct a study to address diversity issues among underrepresented faculty members in the counseling field.
