Bio

Joe Chesebro has been a member of the department since 1999 and is an alum of the Communication Studies program. He earned an MA in Communication at Ball State University and an EdD in Educational Psychology and Communication at West Virginia University. Since joining the department, he has enjoyed teaching courses related to interpersonal and professional communication. His research primarily focuses on teacher-student communication and he has published several articles and two books; one on teacher-student communication and one on professional workplace communication. His favorite aspect of working at Brockport is our students, who “Are a ton of fun to work with and bring a great deal of energy and potential into each course.” In 2005 he received the Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching and in 2013 he was awarded the Outstanding Academic Advisor award. When he is not teaching he enjoys spending time with his wife and two kids attending concerts, drumming in his band, and staying active. He is proud of surviving two Tough Mudders without hurting himself; and when travel allows he is attempting to learn how to surf.
