Provost Dr. Katy Heyning to Retire

Please join the campus community as we say farewell to Dr. Katy Heyning, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs.

Dr. Heyning joined SUNY Brockport in July 2018 and has done a tremendous job leading Academic Affairs through challenging times.  Her leadership in such initiatives as Academic Master Planning, preparing for the Middle States visit, and the SUNY Comprehensive PRODiG fellowship program will have a positive, lasting impact on our campus.

“I wish to thank everyone for their support these past few months as I have struggled with some ongoing health concerns.  Many people have stepped up, filled in, and assisted in numerous ways to ensure our work did not stop.  This has made it possible for me to focus on my healing, and I have appreciated this support more than I can express.  However, I have now made the very difficult decision to leave my position and retire this summer.  I have truly enjoyed my time as your provost.  Thank you for helping me grow and learn, for challenging me, and for always pushing me to think deeply about the needs of our students, faculty, and staff.  Thank you for letting me try new things and helping me learn from my mistakes.  Most importantly, thank you for being my inspiration.”

Well wishes and donations toward her gift can be directed to Alyshia O’Connor, 722 Allen Administration.
