Title: Chemistry Professor Chairs Session at National Conference

Summary: Markus Hoffmann, Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, chaired the Session “Basic Research in Colloids, Surfactants, and Interfaces” at the spring National Meeting of the American Chemical Society.

The spring National Meeting of the American Chemical Society (ACS) was held on April 13. Dr. Markus Hoffmann presented during the session and also held a talk entitled “Solutions of Water in Oil Reverse Micelles Do Not Conform to the Stokes-Einstein Equation”. This project was in part funded by the National Science Foundation, RUI grant# 1953428.

Dr. Hoffmann also presented a talk entitled “Dynamic Nuclear Polarization Enhanced NMR Study of Nonionic Surfactant Confined in Mesoporous Materials”  on April 14 at the ACS meeting. Both presentations are an outcome of his collaborative research with the Buntkowsky group and the Vogel group at the Technical University of Darmstadt, Germany where he has been a guest researcher funded as a Mercator fellow by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG).
