Senior Rachel Horowitz presented her research that she had been working for nearly a year under the guidance of her research mentor Dr. Markus Hoffmann four times during the month of April. She gave an oral presentation at the National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR), the SUNY Undergraduate Research Conference (SURC), The Rochester Virtual Collegiate Research Symposium, and Scholars Day.
At NCUR Horowitz co-presented with fellow senior Bernard Okai on another research project she conducted under the guidance of research mentor Dr. Carly Reed. These conference experiences are invaluable for Horowitz to prepare her for her PhD program at the University of Rochester that she begins Fall 2021. The research project she conducted with Dr. Hoffmann focuses on polyethylene glycol as a green solvent. The project is funded by the National Science Foundation, RUI grant# 1953428, which provided a summer research stipend for Rachel during summer 2020 and covered the conference registration fees.
