Title: Survey Invitations for International Faculty Sought for Research

Date: March 24, 2021
Summary: International faculty, full-time and part-time, are invited to participate in an IRB-approved study conducted by members of the International Faculty Learning Community (2019-2020).
Body:

Survey invitations for International Faculty: International Faculty’s Input on Belonging, Teaching, Mentorship, and Faculty-Student Interaction Sought for Research Study

The research team is composed of Claudette Brown-Smythe and John Harrichand (Department of Counselor Education), Sadia Cheema and Alexander Moe (Department of Journalism, Broadcasting and Public Relations), and Janka Szilagyi and Jie Zhang (Department of Education and Human Development).

There are four purposes of this research study. The researchers aim to (1) investigate international faculty’s sense of belonging, teaching, mentorship, and faculty-student interaction experiences, (2) enrich our understanding of international faculty’s perspectives and experiences at SUNY Brockport, (3) provide data-based and research-based suggestions to support international faculty recruitment and retention, and (4) enrich the existing research on international faculty’s experiences and perspectives.

We invite international faculty, full-time and part-time, to participate in our IRB-approved study. An international faculty member may choose to participate in up to three Qualtrics surveys that take 15 minutes each, and/or the one-hour focus group interview. It is estimated that it will take a maximum of one hour and 45 minutes to complete all surveys and the focus group interview if a participant chooses to complete all four components of the study. If you are interested in participating in the online survey(s), please follow the following three links and respond to the questions in each link:

Study 1. International Faculty’s Perceptions of Belonging

Study 2. International Faculty’s Teaching Experiences

Study 3. International Faculty-Student Mentorship and Interaction Experiences

After these three surveys, colleagues may choose to participate in a follow-up focus group virtually (a maximum of six participants per group) for more detailed information regarding the survey questions with an estimation of one hour.
