Today: Teams is Replacing FileCity2

BITS would like to remind everyone that Teams will officially replace FileCity2 on March 1. On March 1 any shares that remain on FileCity 2 will be made read-only, with the exception of shares already approved by BITS.

BITS has been working with the campus community to provide training and assistance with file transfers over the past several months. Microsoft Teams will replace FileCity2 for departmental file shares this Monday, March 1, 2021. On March 1 any shares that remain on FileCity 2 will be made read-only, with the exception of shares already approved by BITS. This means you will not be able to update or save anything new but you will be able to open, read, and copy files from your FileCity2 share to transfer them to Teams.

Share owners, when transferring your FileCity2 files to Teams please use the Microsoft Teams: How to migrate (transfer) departmental files from FileCity2 instructions and keep the following in mind:

  • Do not delete your files from FileCity2 when you are done
  • Do not drag and drop your files into the purple Teams window
  • Give files enough time to sync to the cloud before making changes
  • If your FileCity2 share contains a Microsoft Access database and you have not already worked with IT, please submit a Teams Request.

For more information on the features of Teams, please see the Microsoft Teams: What is it? Quick Start Guide

If you need assistance please submit a Teams Request or contact the IT Service Desk by calling 585-395-5151 Option 1.
