Matthew Too, a double major in biochemistry and mathematics, received an undergraduate research award at the 2021 Eastern Analytical Symposium & Exposition at the Crowne Plaza Princeton Conference Center, Plainsboro, NJ on November 15-17, 2021. He was one of three undergraduate and five graduate students who were recognized for their research achievements.
As part of the recognition, Matthew Too presented a poster on his research that he undertook under the mentorship of Professor Markus Hoffmann, Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry. The recognized research concerned experimental evidence that reverse micellar aggregates of nonionic surfactants do not follow the Stokes-Einstein equation, a widely accepted equation that relates self-diffusion and viscosity to the size of a particle moving in a solvent medium. This work has also been disseminated in The Journal of Physical Chemistry B (Vol. 124, pp. 9115-9125), a journal published by the American Chemical Society.
