Title: Research Collaboration with Technical University of Darmstadt Continues to Succeed
Markus Hoffmann, Professor and Chair of the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, has been collaborating with researchers at the Technical University Darmstadt, Germany, since 2014. The current research projects are funded by the federal German funding agency Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft as well as the National Science Foundation. The most recent findings have been disseminated in two articles in two journals published by the American Chemical Society.
A solid state Nuclear Magnetic Resonance study of octanol confined in mesoporous material is presented in The Journal of Physical Chemistry C (V. 125, pp. 25155-25164). The second article inspects the effect of composition, vendor sources, and water content on the physical properties density, viscosity, and self-diffusion of polyethylene glycol. This work, published in the Journal of Chemical and Engineering Data (in press), is co-authored by biochemistry major Joseph Kealy, who also has written up this work during the 2021 fall semester as his thesis in fulfillment of the requirements of Brockport’s honors program.
