Title: Golden Eagles Lend a Helping Hand During the Holiday Season
Associate Head Athletic Trainer, John Jackson, teamed up with Brockport’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) to lead the charge in bringing everyone together for the one common goal. This year the Golden Eagles raised a record $3,222 in money, gifts, and gift cards. Over the course of the last four years, Brockport athletics has raised nearly $10,000 towards this specific program.
“I am so proud to be a Golden Eagle. The student-athletes and athletic support staff are so supportive of this fundraiser,” said Jackson. “I always tell the student-athletes that before you open gifts during the holiday, take a second a know that you have just helped make a child’s Christmas! That may be your best gift of the day!”
Tara Jackson, third grade teacher at Barclay Elementary, and Teri Caldwell, Barclay school counselor, act as the liaisons for the school’s holiday fund. The fund allows people to be able to sponsor a family during the holidays or donate to the cause. When the Golden Eagles were asked to participate again this season, they jumped at the opportunity.
SAAC has been very supportive of the holiday fund over the years and this year they organized team leaders to help collect funds. John Jackson, Head Baseball Coach Justin Beach, Assistant Athletic Director Gil Burgmaster and swim & dive student-athlete Jade Rinaldo delivered the money and gifts to Barclay Elementary on Tuesday afternoon.
“It’s important to give back to our community and I always feel good bringing happiness to those who might be less fortunate, particularly during the holiday season,” said sophomore swimmer Jade Rinadlo.
The Golden Eagles look forward to maintaining a strong relationship with the schools in the Brockport community and providing continued to support for those in need.
