The Department of Communication is pleased to announce the return of SUNY Brockport’s CMC Speech Lab and its services. The CMC Speech Lab is a free service available to students to help them with all levels of the speech preparation process, including topic selection, organization, research, and delivery practice.
After a successful soft opening during the Spring 2021 semester, the CMC Speech Lab has reopened for Fall 2021 with new hours and additional appointment slots. Furthermore, its range of services has expanded. Last semester, the Lab only worked with students enrolled in CMC 201: Public Speaking; however, this semester, the Speech Lab is able to aid students enrolled in any CMC class.
“We’re off to a great start so far this semester, with students visiting to consult with us from a variety of classes,” says Jake Nickell, Lecturer for the Department of Communication and Director of the CMC Speech Lab. “We had such a positive response from students last semester, so I’m excited to be able to expand our services to all CMC courses this term and even further in the coming semesters.”
Students may make either a virtual or in-person appointment to meet with a Public Speaking Coach for assistance. The CMC Speech Lab is open the following hours:
Mondays, 9:00 am - 11:00 am; 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Tuesdays, 10:00 am - 1:30 pm
Wednesdays, 9:00 am - 11:00 am; 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Thursdays, 10:00 am - 1:30 pm
Fridays, 9:00 am - 11:00 am
