Dr. Henry “Cody” Miller, Assistant Professor of English education, and Mario Worlds, a middle school English teacher in Florida, co-authored an academic column entitled “Racebending, Racial Capitalism, and Representation in the Texts We Teach” published as part of the Journal of Language and Literacy Education’s Scholars Speak Out series. In the column, they consider how racebending and racial capitalism operate in young adult novels that are often marketed and taught to adolescents.
