Suffocating, a mixed media sculpture by Vanessa Tierney (Rodgers) was selected by the juror, Amanda Chestnut, another SUNY Brockport Alum (MFA in Visual Studies ’15), for the top honor. Other members of the Brockport community that are featured in the exhibition include Professors Jennifer Hecker (Art) and Sharon Lubkemann Allen (English), along with alums Zane Leo (Davies) ’19; Chlovia Loomis ’20, and Sage Churchill-Foster ’01.
The Rochester-Finger Lakes Exhibition is on display at the Memorial Art Gallery from August 15 - October 17, 2021. There were almost 600 artists this year from a 27-county region of western and central New York State who submitted artwork to this biannual exhibition; 88 had artwork selected.
