The Office of College Communications captured two awards at the Public Relation Society of America - Rochester’s annual PRism Award Ceremony on July 21.

Videographer/Photographer Zach Lyman and Multimedia Producer Meghan Finnerty earned a PRism in the online video category for “#BPortTogether.” The video was produced during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 when the entire state was in quarantine. Lyman and Finnerty created the piece while working from home, without access to their usual equipment. The video performed so well internally that College Communications converted it into a television commercial, which aired throughout the Rochester market and drew significant praise.

The College Communications team also received an Award of Excellence in the internal communications category for its “Protect the Nest” campaign around the COVID-19 protocols that helped keep SUNY Brockport safe and open for face-to-face instruction throughout the 2020-2021 academic year. The effort included the Bringing Brockport Back website, a series of informational videos, signage across campus, and a social media campaign.

The PRism awards recognize complete public relations programs and tactical elements incorporating sound insights and analysis, planning, execution, and evaluation. PRSA says that entries must meet the highest standards of performance in public relations to be considered for a PRism Award.
