Week 31: January 27, 2023

For those of us who live in Monroe County, it looks like winter has finally arrived. For those who are a little further to the west, you’ve been dealing with winter since November!

Anyway, here are some announcements for this week:

  • Danique’s last day as Manager of University Events is next Wednesday, Feb. 1. Stop in to 307 Allen during the day to grab a treat and to say goodbye before she heads off to Cornell. Danique, thanks for all you have done for the University over these last few years, especially in this stretch when you were a part of Advancement & Communications. You did great work at your alma mater and will be missed!
  • The newest member of the Advancement team, Mike Zaccardo, will begin his role as an Engagement Officer/Major Giving next Thursday, Feb. 2. Stop by and welcome him to the team. He will be located in 310 Allen.
  • The new student newsletter, Things to Know, debuts this coming Monday and will be emailed to all students each week. Thanks to Darcy for the research and all of the work in pulling this together. For those who are interested in reading it, there will be a link included in the Daily Eagle.
  • As a reminder, the University and 58 Main BBQ and Brew have partnered to bring the 58 Main BBQ Pit to all home ice hockey games this season. Each home game in 2022-23 will have a special group as VIP guests to the 58 Main BBQ Pit in the Wegmans Ice Arena. The Division of Advancement and Communications has their own night set aside to enjoy some delicious food and take in a game. We are scheduled for TONIGHT at 7 pm for a game against SUNY Plattsburgh. We would love to have as many staff join us for a fun evening to support Golden Eagle hockey. Please let Adam (x5113 or astandi@brockport.edu) know ASAP if you are coming. He will send details to those who can attend.
  • The annual Day of Giving is coming up. This intense 24-hour stretch – midnight to midnight on Tuesday, March 21 – will be focused on bringing as many gifts and donors as possible to the campus during that time. Support for any and all funds will be the focus, with special challenges sprinkled in throughout the entire day. Mark it on your calendars!

Upcoming events to note:

  • The February First Friday will be a week from today ( 3) in the New York Room of Cooper Hall. Try to stop by between 4:00 and 5:30 pm.
  • Fall recipients of Green & Gold Star Awards will be recognized at halftime of the women’s (5:30 pm) and men’s (7:30 pm) basketball games that same evening. More details have been sent to each recipient and have been posted in the Daily Eagle.

Stay warm and enjoy the weekend!
