Week 18: October 28, 2022

I saw this great quote last night and wanted to share:

“Better is possible. It does not take genius. It takes diligence. It takes moral clarity. It takes ingenuity. Above all, it takes a willingness to try.” – Atul Gawande, an American surgeon, writer, and public health researcher. He practices general and endocrine surgery at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston.

The SEFA Campaign ends today. Once again, a BIG thank you to Janet, Danique, Dan, and Amy for leading the charge for the University. If you have not had your chance to make a gift, or would like more information before the books are closed, connect with one of them before today ends.

Cabinet discussions the last couple of weeks have centered on budget and enrollment. We are working hard across all areas of the campus to stabilize enrollment over the next year, then attempt to grow again in the coming five years. Kudos to everyone on the marketing side on all of the advertising that is making an early difference in applications, and to our alumni efforts, especially in NYC, where we are providing assistance at college fairs.

The campus climate survey will be sent to everyone on Tuesday. Please take the time to complete this important document. David is our A&C representative on the Presidential Campus Climate Committee.

Don’t forget to pick up your FREE green polo over at SERC next week. Check the Daily Eagle post for days and times, and remember to bring your Brockport ID and Banner number. If you get there and we do not have your size, don’t fret: another order will be coming in soon.

We have four searches going on, at various stages, within the Division. We hope to announce a new hire in Communications very soon, and the three in Advancement are moving forward.

I am on the road Tuesday and Wednesday next week, then Nov. 7 and 9-13 the following week. I’ll always be accessible via email and text for those who need to reach me.

Please mark your calendar for Wednesday, Dec. 21, from 4 to 7 pm for the Divisional holiday party in downtown Rochester. More details to come. Thanks to John F. for the creative idea and Amy and the Finance & Advancement Services team for the quick legwork in getting our space reserved.

Upcoming events:

  • Team Day for Advancement & Communications, 11/1
  • November “First Friday,” 11/4, 4-5:30 pm (NY Room, Cooper)
  • The second Fall Open House, 11/12, 9 am (campus)

Enjoy the sunshine!
