Held annually during the Spring semester, the Clothesline Project is an event aimed at raising awareness about violence against women.
The Clothesline Project started in Cape Cod in 1990 as a way to address the issue of violence against women. It has since spread throughout the country and even internationally. The organization estimates that there are currently 500 projects held throughout the world.
The event enables women affected by violence to express their emotions about their experiences. They are encouraged to decorate shirts which then hang on a clothesline as a testimony to the problem of violence against women.
