The Leadership Internship Program is designed for highly motivated undergraduate students who are interested in working closely with a member of the SUNY Brockport leadership team.
Participants will strengthen leadership and project management skills, and will apply undergraduate experiences to help achieve college goals. Each intern must be willing to sign a confidentiality form, and may receive one to three academic credit hours, if desired.

General Learning Outcomes
As a result of this internship, students will be able to:
- Construct a deeper understanding of their own leadership style and self-efficacy
- Demonstrate a deeper understanding of various types of leadership and their situational use by faculty, staff, and students on campus
- Through self-reflection, enhance their own knowledge of executive leadership in higher education and its relationship to the student experience on campus
- Actively contribute to the achievement of a group goal
- Develop and maintain interpersonal relationships that support and clarify personal values, goals, and interests
- Other outcomes to be determined in consultation between the University leadership and the intern
Internship Opportunities
President Heidi Macpherson
Serves as the Chief Executive Officer, and is responsible for the executive and administrative duties in connection with the operation of the University.

- Social Responsibility: Role model social responsibility at all times, but especially when representing the university, and making unpopular decisions because they are the “right” thing to do. Damita Davis, Chief Diversity Officer
Provides strategic and programmatic leadership for diversity and inclusion initiatives that advance diversity as a critical component of social, academic and intellectual life at the University.

- Multicultural Competency: Develop multicultural competency through celebration of diverse cultures, advocacy for the needs and identifies of all members within the community, recognition of the diverse communities within the campus community and beyond, education and awareness of the concerns of those diverse communities, and support of the ongoing inclusion, understanding and dignity of all members within and beyond the campus community.

Dr. Lorraine Acker, Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs
Provides strategic and programmatic leadership for an array of essential student services, engagement opportunities, and student programs, include residential life, student union and activities, intercultural center, community development, student health, student conduct, counseling center, prevention and outreach, and campus recreation.

- Marketing and Communication: Create, coordinate and deliver effective written, visual and digital communication within the Division of Enrollment Management and Student Affairs (EMSA) to ensure organizational achievement of goals.

Responsible for recruitment of students, along with an array of essential student services, engagement opportunities, and student programs, to include residential life and athletics.

Jim Wall, VP for Administration and Finance
Serves as the University’s business officer and manages finance and accounting, along with human resources, the University’s physical plant, BASC, and information technology.

Mike Andriatch, VP for Advancement
Provides creative and strategic leadership for the University’s fundraising efforts, and serves as the chief fundraising officer, and the President, for the Brockport Foundation.

Program Components
- Formal mentoring relationship with the leadership member
- Presence at various administrative gatherings
- Research topics that contribute to the success of the University’s strategic plan: Building a Better Brockport
- Work with the assistant to the president/VP to establish a customized work plan
Required Qualifications
- Current undergraduate student at SUNY Brockport, preferably with junior or senior status during internship
- Must be willing to enroll in and/or have completed the Green Leadership Program prior to the start of the Internship
- GPA of 2.75 or higher
- Be in good standing with Student Conduct
- Ability to work a minimum of 10 hours per week during the semester
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred Qualifications
- Expressed interest in higher education leadership
