Below is a guide to SUNY Brockport’s current COVID-19 Isolation and Quarantine Policy. We strongly urge you to receive your COVID-19 booster shots as soon as you are eligible. Employees should notify Human Resources when receiving a new vaccination or booster. Employees should notify Human Resources immediately after testing positive for COVID-19.

If you test positive for COVID:

  • You need to isolate for 5 days. This period begins with the day you started having symptoms or, if you are asymptomatic, the day you took your COVID test.
  • If you are asymptomatic at the end of 5 days or your symptoms are resolving, your isolation ends. However, you still need to wear a well-fitting mask when around other people for another 5 days. If you cannot tolerate a mask or your symptoms have not improved, you need to stay in isolation for 5 more days.

If you are exposed to someone with COVID:

  • No quarantine is required if you are asymptomatic, but you should wear a well-fitting mask when around others for 10 days starting with the date of your last exposure. If symptoms appear, quarantine and seek testing.

Quarantine & Isolation Instructions for Residential Students

Accommodations

Residential students who test positive for COVID-19 will be re-located to Benedict or Mortimer for the duration of their isolation/quarantine. However, students should have a plan to quarantine or isolate at home as there will be limited quarantine and isolation space on campus. Off campus students will remain in their current residence or may return home.

Students who chose to quarantine/isolate in Benedict/Mortimer hall are required to abide by the directives and requirements of Hazen Center for Integrated Care and Residential Life Staff. By quarantining/isolating on campus, you are agreeing to remain in the assigned room during the duration of your isolation period, with check out typically occurring at 8am the day after your isolation period ends.

Travel

No student with isolation or quarantine orders may take public transportation to travel home. Only private transportation is permitted.

While in isolation or quarantine students must remain in Benedict or Mortimer Hall, except for medical appointments or emergencies.

General Safety Measures

  1. Wash hands frequently and at least daily wipe-down “high-touch” surfaces
  2. Take temperature daily. Report a temperature over 100 or new symptoms.
  3. Wear a mask if any potential contact with other individuals. There should be no close contact with people (closer than a 6-foot distance between you and others), and non-essential visitors are not permitted.
  4. To retrieve meals or a package outside an isolation/quarantine room, first wash hands with soap and water for 30 seconds and wear a mask.

Meals

  • If isolating on campus, meals will be provided by BASC, and delivered to Benedict or Mortimer.
  • If off campus, MCDPH will assist if any problems with needed services.

Academic Concerns

Hazen Student Health Services can notify professors to assist with academic concerns.
