The minor in music business offers you a practical option to explore opportunities in the music industry. Gain an insider’s perspective into music retail, live venue production, broadcast music and recording studios.

Curriculum
In this minor, you’ll learn the business fundamentals of marketing, law, and music management. You’ll also study a range of coursework in music and performance. A wide variety of ensembles provide you with performance opportunities throughout the semester.Your capstone experience will be a practicum internship in the music business.

We recommend submitting first-year applications in October or early November. We decide your admission once you complete your application.

Ensembles
Brockport’s music ensembles are open to all without an audition. All ensembles are one credit and can be taken either with or without credit. So dust off your old instrument (or vocal cords) and come join in the music making! Options include:

- Brass Ensemble
- Jazz Ensemble/Big Band
- Jazz Combo
- Xylophone-Percussion Ensembles
