The music program at SUNY Brockport is committed to student scholarly and music performance success. The College’s music minors (music, music business, and musical theater), provide a range of academic courses that challenge students in areas such as:
- Music theory
- Music business
- Music history
- Applied piano or voice study
- World music
- Ethnomusicology
An additional option for those interested in music is to pursue the Arts for Children Major with a specialty in music which offers students the option of a bachelor’s degree that focuses in music.
Music Ensembles
A wide variety of music ensembles provide ample performance opportunities throughout the semester. Students at the College will be able to continue their instrumental or vocal pursuits for credit or non-credit through ensembles such as
- College-Community Orchestra
- College-Community Chorus
- Gospel Choir
- Concert Band
- Jazz Band
- Brass Band
- Pep Band
- Xylophone-Percussion Ensembles
Students can also pursue extra-curricular performances through solos and small group ensembles.
