As a Spanish teacher with dual certification you will be prepared to teach all students how to communicate in the Spanish language and the history of the rich cultures that it represents.

Curriculum
Develop your global competence and cultural understanding while preparing to teach Spanish in a linguistically dynamic context. Small classes and dedicated faculty will help you gain advanced proficiency in reading, writing, speaking and listening.
The Spanish Adolescence Inclusive Education program leads to initial dual certification in:
- Adolescence Spanish Grades 5-12; and
- Students with Disabilities, Grades 7-12

Admission Requirements
We recommend submitting first-year applications in October or early November. We decide your admission once you complete your application.

Service learning and internship opportunities will allow you to apply what you learn in the classroom into real-world settings and prepare you to be a successful high school and middle school Spanish teacher.

Career Outlook
The NYS Department of Education recognized the importance of being biliterate in today’s global society by becoming the second state in the nation to adopt a State Seal of Biliteracy. It encourages all High Schools in the state to participate in this rigorous and enriching program. In 2018-19, 228 high schools offered a NYSSB program increasing the demand for Spanish teachers significantly.
