Captain Robert A. Bager
1980 - 2005
Captain Bob Bager served in the First Armored Division, 1st Cavalry Blackhawks Squadron, based in Buedingen, Germany. He served 1 tour of duty in Iraq from 2003-2004. He was awarded two Army Commendation Medals for his service. He was an ROTC graduate of SUNY Brockport, graduating in 2002. He died in September 2005 from injuries sustained in an accident on a rail line while transporting armored vehicles to a training site in Germany.
September 21, 2005; loving son of Dr. William and Patricia (nee Tocco) Bager; loving brother of Christina (Rhett) Warrener; loving fiancé of Tracy Bliznik; loving grandson of Joseph and Jean Bager, Nicia and the late John Tocco and the late Elizabeth (nee Sheridan) Bager; loving nephew of Anna Mauri, Diana (Bob) Drzewiecki, Tony (Kathy) Tocco, Rita (Mike) Browne, John (Joanne), Joan (Leonard) Maciag, Betty (Don) Haug, Mary Jean Kraengel, Henry (Maria) Steurnagel and Ann Marie Steurnagel; also survived by cousins.
Since 2006 the Bager Family has hosted an annual charity golf tournament in honor of their son, Bob Bager. July 30, 2016 will mark the 11th Anniversary of this event. All proceeds go to the Captain Robert Bager Scholarship given annually to a Cadet in the SUNY Brockport ROTC program. The 2016 recipient of the Captain Robert Bager Scholarship was Cadet David Campbell, a senior Cadet in the Freedom Eagles Cadet Battalion.
