Our Mission Statement

The mission of the Ronald E. McNair Post-baccalaureate Program (McNair Program) of SUNY Brockport is to provide disadvantaged undergraduate college students with preparation for doctoral study. To that end, we provide academic, financial, and social support that trains and encourages our McNair scholars to successfully enter graduate school and achieve their academic goals. Through mentoring, networking, and life skills coaching we build positive relationships among scholars, faculty researchers, and practicing professionals so that our students have the opportunity to explore and develop a full range of career options.

Goals

Our primary goal is to increase the number of low-income, first generation or underrepresented students who earn graduate degrees and enter the professoriate.

The secondary goal of our program is to provide the information and encouragement necessary for each McNair Scholar to feel confident in their ability to enter graduate school and successfully complete a Master’s and/or Doctoral Program.
