Internationalization Lab
SUNY Brockport is part of a cohort of eleven global universities participating in the American Council on Education’s 2019-2021 Internationalization Laboratory (ACE Lab). Participation in the ACE Lab aligns with the University’s Strategic Goal 1, To be a Great University at which to Learn, by elevating the “ability of both graduate and undergraduate students to create their best Brockport experience and shape their futures as engaged citizens and alumni.”
The ACE Internationalization Laboratory will provide the leadership for a systematic and collaborative approach to global education at the University. Over the next two years, working closely with ACE experts and the university cohort, Brockport will:
- Assemble an internationalization leadership team on campus.
- Analyze current internationalization activities and articulate institutional goals.
- Formulate a strategic action plan to take internationalization efforts forward
Comprehensive Internationalization Framework
ACE is committed to helping universities—and their graduates—succeed in the globalized world of the 21st century. Comprehensive internationalization, as defined by ACE, is a strategic, coordinated process that seeks to align and integrate policies, programs, and initiatives to position colleges and universities as more globally oriented and internationally connected.
ACE’s internationalization research and programs are underpinned by the ACE Model for Comprehensive Internationalization, which is composed of six interconnected target areas for institutional initiatives, policies, and programs.
- Articulated institutional commitment
- Adminstrative leadership, structure, and staffing
- Curriculum, co-curriculum, and learning outcomes
- Faculty policies and practices
- Student mobility
- Collaboration and partnerships
Message from the President
“As President, I am strongly committed to internationalizing our campus, because I know from personal experience the value that international experiences have for students—and for faculty and staff. We have the chance to transform lives every day on our campus, and we can reach an even bigger community if we embrace the opportunities that internationalization offers. I look forward to seeing what engaging in the internationalization lab does for Brockport and how we can all invest in building meaningful lives and vibrant communities as a result.” — President Heidi Macpherson
