Mission Statement

SUNY Brockport’s Honors College fosters an enriched learning experience for academically ambitious students, empowering them to become independent thinkers and innovative problem solvers. Honors students work closely with distinguished faculty and participate in small, highly interactive courses that advance skills in critical thinking, research, and oral and written communication. Additionally, they pursue community service, campus leadership, professional internships, study abroad, and other forms of experiential learning that connect directly to their personal academic and career goals.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completing the requirements of the Honors College, Honors students will:

  • Use effective critical/creative thinking and writing skills to express complex ideas,
  • Practice effective research or performance skills within their academic major,
  • Analyze personal goal attainment with respect to future objectives, with a special focus on experiences in leadership and service.
