Terrance Hayes

Terrance Hayes is the author of several collections of poetry, including Lighthead (winner of the National Book Award) and Muscular Music (recipient of the Kate Tufts Discovery Award). Hip Logic was a National Poetry Series winner. How to Be Drawn is forthcoming in 2015. He teaches English at the University of Pittsburgh.


Sven Birkerts

Essayist

Sven Birkerts is the author of eight books, including My Sky Blue Trades, The Other Walk, and The Gutenberg Elegies: The Fate of Reading in an Electronic Age. The recipient of a Citation for Excellence in Reviewing from the National Book Critics Circle, he is the editor of AGNI and director of the Bennington Writing Seminars.


Stephen Schottenfeld

Stephen Schottenfeld’s first novel, Bluff City Pawn, is newly published from Bloomsbury. His stories have appeared in The Gettysburg Review, TriQuarterly, the New England Review, and other journals, with special mention in the Pushcart Prize and Best American Short Stories anthologies. He teaches English at the University of Rochester.


Joanie Mackowski

Joanie Mackowski’s collections of poems are The Zoo (winner of the AWP Award in Poetry) and View from a Temporary Window. She was a Stegner Fellow in poetry at Stanford and is the winner of the 2003 Kate Tufts Discovery Award. Mackowski is currently a professor at Cornell University.


Eavan Boland

This reading will be held at 7:30 pm at Temple B’rith Kodesh, 2131 Elmwood Ave, Rochester.

A native of Ireland, Eavan Boland is the author of 10 books of poetry as well as a collection of essays, A Journey with Two Maps: Becoming a Woman Poet, which won the 2012 PEN Award. She has received a Lannan Foundation Award in Poetry, an American Ireland Fund Literary Award, and an honorary degree from Trinity College. She teaches English and directs the creative writing program at Stanford University.
