This major is designed to prepare students for initial dual certifications to teach chemistry to students in grades 5-12 and Students with Disabilities (SWD)-Generalist in grades 7-12.

Curriculum
Our degree Chemistry Adolescence Inclusive Education includes the same core content as our major in chemistry, leaving students with a well-established knowledge and confidence in their field. This is paired with an education curriculum that focuses on lesson plans that are student-centered and connected to the current national content standards. Specific coursework and field experiences are dedicated to working with students with disabilities.

Admission Requirements
We recommend submitting first-year applications in October or early November. We decide your admission once you complete your application.

You’ll perform undergraduate research while working alongside our faculty in our recently remodeled laboratories.

Career Outlook
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of high school teachers is projected to grow 6% from 2012-22 and New York is the state with the highest employment level in chemistry teachers.
New York State Education Department (NYSED) issued teaching certificates are highly valued throughout the US, allowing for a reciprocity process in all 50 states.
