Recurring Problems

Students should be aware of the need to take mathematics and science courses at the earliest opportunity as background to their meteorology work. Care in planning the schedule is needed as all courses are not offered every semester, and some required upper division courses are offered every other year. Students should contact a meteorology major advisor at their earliest opportunity, to be kept informed of any scheduling changes that could affect their program.

Students are required to take Calculus-based Physics (PHS235/PHS240) in order to fulfill the major requirements which are mandated by the Federal Government. Algebra-based Physics (PHS205/PHS210) is insufficient to meet these requirements and will not satisfy the prerequisites for some of the upper division courses required in this major.
