Art (BFA)
The BFA (Bachelor of Fine Arts) is an intensive program that prepares students for a professional career in art and art related careers and/or graduate level education. The program requires 78 credits of studio and art history courses and approved electives. Admission to the program is by portfolio application. Students can apply for this program before coming to Brockport, or during their freshman or sophomore year. The BFA application and directions can be found on the Art Dept website.

When a student is accepted in the BFA program, an advisor/mentor will be assigned and a course of study will be created. Students with lower than a 2 .5 GPA will not be allowed to continue in the program, but may continue in the BS or BA art studio major. BFA students must participate in semester reviews each semester and complete ART 402 BFA Senior Exhibition in final semester (see BFA guidelines for specific info).
Grade Requirement
This major/program requires a grade of “C” or above in all courses used to fill major and minor requirements. “C-” grades are NOT acceptable and require repeats unless otherwise specified.
