Alcohol and Substance Abuse Studies


The Alcohol and Substance Abuse Studies major is housed in The Department of Healthcare Studies.

Recommended Courses in the Freshman Year

First or Second Semester
  • It is recommended that students pursuing this major concentrate on General Education classes in the first year.

 

Recommended Courses in the Sophomore Year

First Semester Second Semester
  • HCS 409 Intro to Alcohol & Other Drugs
  • PSH 110 Introductory Psychology
  • Any university level statistics course with a passing grade. Suggested courses: MTH 243, PSH 202, PBH 488 or other statistics course.

 

Grade Requirement

This major requires a grade of “C” or above in each course required for the Alcohol and Substance Abuse Studies Program. “C-” grades are NOT acceptable and require repeats unless otherwise specified.

Students need an overall Brockport GPA of 2.5 for the Internship Seminar (HCS 497) and Internship (HCS 498), which are taken concurrently, upon completion of all the required courses.
