A) Utilize the talents and resources of the SUNY Brockport community to meet the economic and societal needs of our region.
WE WILL TRACK PROGRESS INSTITUTIONALLY AGAINST THIS OBJECTIVE THROUGH:
- Assessment of total and direct economic impacts
- Assessment of faculty/staff community engagement data (e.g., # of Faculty/staff who serve on community boards/planning committees, or who participate in community service)
- Through the Provost’s Task Force on Experiential Learning, the establishment and assessment of a service learning tracking system (including internships, undergraduate research, etc.) [1]
- Assessment of intergenerational learning offerings, including participation rates
- Assessment of relevant aspects of the REOC Annual Report and evaluation of the implementation of such efforts
- Assessment of the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Annual Report, including # of jobs created/saved and number of new business startups through the SBDC.
B) Cultivate lasting and engaging relationships with alumni and partners that positively impact our academic community.
WE WILL TRACK PROGRESS INSTITUTIONALLY AGAINST THIS OBJECTIVE THROUGH:
- Assessment of job and internship fairs, including tracking of data and outcomes.
- Assessment of progress in relation to our Alumni Engagement score [2]
- Feedback from advisory boards and implementation of new activities as a result
C) Celebrate and effectively communicate the SUNY Brockport vision and our successes internally and externally.
WE WILL TRACK PROGRESS INSTITUTIONALLY AGAINST THIS OBJECTIVE THROUGH:
- Development and assessment of Internal Communications and Promotion Plan
- Assessment and strategic use of outcome data in relation to all media coverage of SUNY Brockport (e.g., TV and newspaper stories, Social media data points, etc.)
D) Nurture a welcoming, vibrant and engaging campus community where faculty, staff, students, and visitors generate a sense of school spirit: Golden Eagle pride.
WE WILL TRACK PROGRESS INSTITUTIONALLY AGAINST THIS OBJECTIVE THROUGH:
- Reviewing, assessing and disseminating information about campus traditions that foster community engagement and belonging
- Tracking of sales of apparel through the University’s Bookstore and licensing
- Tracking major event attendance (e.g., Courage Bowl, some athletic competitions, Fine Arts performances, Scholars Days, Diversity Conference, etc.)

In the first two years of the SP, we will create an institutional definition that reflects national best-practices, and then gather and analyze data over the final three years of the strategic plan.

This is calculated using a percentage of alumni who give, attend events, return to campus to serve as guest lecturers, serve as internship hosts/sponsors, etc. divided by the total number of alumni.
